Star-Nail

Introduction
Introduction to the Star Nail:The nail has been around for thousands of years. To this day the standard "Round Nail" is still the most widely used nail globally. Around 1989 an inventor named Frank Potucek had a better idea for the standard nail and patented it.
This nail is called the "Star Nail" and rightly so. It is a nail with five elongated fins that look similar to a "star" shape. The Star Nail can do everything a round nail can do and more.
It has better holding power. There are more nails per pound, because the Star Nail uses about half the raw material to manufacture. There is more profit for the builders using the nail because the Star Nail reduces wood splitting and thus less material waste for the user.
One other benefit of the Star Nail is that it weighs 50% less. This reduces shipping costs. Workers will appreciate the lower weight when they have to carry the nails up and down a ladder hundreds of times a day. There is less weight for the person stocking the retailers shelves and less weight for the customer to carry. This is one of those rare occasions where "Less is More!"
The Star Nail Mission Statement:
Our main goal is to produce a technically superior nail product that will use roughly one half of the raw wire material to manufacture this new, patented "Star Nail". By using significantly less wire material in the manufacturing process of the star nail, a factory utilizing numerous production ready Star Nail machines, could produce extremely high profit margins compared to the current round nail manufacturing model.
Currently the key players that remain in the nail manufacturing business such as Keystone Steel & Wire or Titan Steel & Wire are also in the raw wire producing business. They not only produce wire used to manufacture nails, but manufacture all types of fasteners, fencing and other products that use high percentages of this raw steel wire material. Typically the amount of material used to make these products is between 70-90 percent of the actual cost of the product.
The Star Nail will require about half the material to make a nail, ironically resulting in a more technically superior nail. Because it takes significantly less material to produce a nail, which sells for the same price, the profit potential of this new manufacturing model will be enormous!
Closing Statement:
It is plainly evident that the Star Nail will be a technically superior nail. It requires about one half of the material that a standard nail needs to be produced. It has increased holding power over a standard nail. Having about 50% less cross section pushing the grain of a piece of wood outward, wood spitting is significantly less, resulting in less material waste for the builder. Shipping costs in all phases of distribution will be much less because of reduced weight. The end user will be much happier just because his or her nail belt will be much lighter while carrying around a bunch of nails, resulting in less fatigue. When collating the Stair Nail, it will either be able to be sold for a lot less money and capture a significant market share or enormous profits can be realized because of less labor and the lack of additional collating material.
The Star Nail looks superior. The unique look can be used to our advantage for sales, marketing and additional press coverage. This new nail design will change the nail industry as we know it; for the manufacture, distributor and the end user. This is one retailing equation where everybody wins!
This project has taken far too long to get off the ground, for one reason or another. Valuable time is being wasted and now is absolutely the right time to bring this invention to the world! It will take either a manufacturing partner with courage and vision, or it will take several million dollars in private capital to get this project on its way.
In either case, as in all great, useful inventions or products, the key to success is simplicity. You can not get much simpler than a nail. Producing the Star Nail will be a relatively low tech material conversion process and will not create pollution or waste products. The Star Nail will change how people think of the nail forever, and it will make several fortunes for those who develop it.
It seems appropriate that this futuristic nail should be finding its way into the world now; at the beginning of a new millenium.
